Relationship status: Avocado

Seriously guys, I'm obsessed with avocados. Avocado toast, avocado salad, guacamole, avocado mousse... the list goes on and on. Because I love avocados so much and because of the fact that I'm obsessed with greenery, I've decided to teach you how to plant your very own avocado tree.

First of all you have to carefully remove the pit from the avocado and then wash it clean (without removing the brown skin on the pit).

Once your pit is washed, pierce it with toothpicks (as shown on the picture above) and place the bottom root end in water. I highly recommend you to use a clear glass, so you can see when the roots start to grow.

Place the glass on a window shelf so your avo will get enough sunlight. Change the water once a week or even more often if necessary.

Be patient! It usually takes at least 8 weeks to get a sprout. Once the stem is approximately 15 cm long pot it up with the top half of the seed exposed. Make sure that your baby avocado gets enough sun and keep the soil moist.

Watch it grow, but don't expect your very own avocados too soon! It usually takes more than 5 years for the plant to begin growing fruit.

I hope this post was inspiring enough to make you grow your own avocado tree. At the moment I am growing eleven of them! Besides that I'm trying to grow an oak, so let's see if the magic happens soon...
